I think Ron Paul is the man. Too many people look at his statement about the civil war as a race issue. But its more of a point about his discretion of war views. At any rate its all speculative about what a better approach would have been to the civil war. I hope that people don't end up drawing to much attention to this statement and focus more of their attentions on understanding his ideas for the future of this country. Jon, I've always respected you, because I think you have a strong understanding of American politics, and "your finger is on the pulse". So I'm curious, what are YOUR thoughts on Dr. Paul? Not just his statement about the civil war, but his whole approach to the government. I would like to add that I am not a Republican and I am not a Democrat and I have not yet made up my mind about who will get my vote.
Well, I don't think that Ron Paul is racist. The notion that the Civil War could have been averted by the US buying slaves freedom is a JOKE. What happens when a plantation owner says "NO"? The Brits did this on a much smaller scale and it was an economic disaster. I say: Ron Paul's idea of an alternative is speculative. The Civil War freed millions of slaves. That fact is not up for debate.
Okay, so what do I think of Ron Paul?
Well. He's a Republican who doesn't follow the pack.
But, he's still a Republican. He's never voted to raise taxes. He's in favor of limited Federal Gov't. Broader states rights. No federal restrictions on owning guns.
That's the historical difference between Republicans and Democrats. Ron Paul is a bit of a throwback to the Republican Party before the right became so damn Christified.
Ron Paul is Pro-Life. He masks it by saying "the Federal Government should not be involved"--- that it should be a state's rights issue.
Ron Paul doesn't believe in free and universal healthcare.
Ron Paul wants to get rid of the Federal Reserve.
With the exception for him not being down with the War in Iraq or the Patriot Act...I'm not down with much of what Ron Paul is about.
"oh c'mon southern racist plantation owners... can't we just talk this one out? i mean, i know you don't pay anything for these folk.. but its the right thing to do!"
In December of 2006, Nate Kalushner and I set out to create a photo-blog. We called it Force Duo. However, neither of us were prolific or dedicated enough to post our photos on a regular basis. Ultimately, we fell into posting a combination of our stories, photographs, and plenty of random content. This past year, Force Duo added a number of new bloggers and we changed our name to Grown Media. I assure you that we lead very interesting lives and that, if you check in here every now and again, you won't be dissapointed. Talk to us and we'll talk back. We are spread out across the country. Each of us is different. Some of us are a little crazy. Welcome to Grown Media! - Jon

He might be "the man". But, he ain't my man!
Ron Paul could have ended the Holocaust by offering Nazi Germany some Jewish Apple Cake......
But why would he have wanted to? We all know he happily accepted a donation from a neo-Nazi organization :-D
